O God of truth and love,
you gave your Church
the eloquence and courage of Saint John Chrysostom,
a faithful bishop and fearless preacher of your Word.
Through his intercession,
grant that we may hunger for your truth,
proclaim the Gospel with boldness,
and serve you with hearts aflame with charity.
May we, like him,
seek not worldly honour but your glory alone,
and come at last to share in the eternal banquet of your Kingdom.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
