THE LAST SEVEN WORDS OF CHRIST
WORD 1: FORGIVENESS
Jesus' statement, "They do not know what they are doing," highlights ignorance as a central aspect of human sin. The leaders, blinded by fear and ambition, misunderstood Jesus’ true identity and mission, fulfilling prophecies unknowingly. This moment reflects our own repeated failures to recognize and embrace God’s work among us.
In what ways can I cultivate a heart that seeks reconciliation and understanding, following Jesus' example of mercy?
Lord, open our eyes to see the truth of Your presence and purpose in our lives and in the world. Forgive us for the times we act in ignorance and contribute to suffering. Guide us to live more fully in Your love and bring healing and hope to those we encounter. Amen.
